ACOMSDave, Dave McFarlane, is a community journalist who is based in Oliva, Valencia, Spain, and who provides locally oriented, professional news coverage that typically focuses on city neighbourhoods, individual suburbs or small towns, rather than metropolitan, state, national or world news. When I do cover wider topics, community journalism concentrates on the effect they have on local readers.
In writing I will be looking at the festivals and local amenities of the local region, and also its wider sister areas. I will also be looking at local politics and how they affect everyone within the region, and that means Spaniards and ex-pats. Overtime I will also develop self-help guides to support living within Spain, and enjoying your life here more.
Outside these areas, I will also be writing on the following:
- Government intrusion, ‘Big Brother’, lost of civil liberties – mainly aimed as an outsider looking at the United Kingdom, but occasionally comparing with other European countries.
- The justice system, and how various penal systems treat their prisoners when sentenced, and after they have concluded their sentence.
The educational system in the United Kingdom, how it compares with Europe and other parts of the world systems, and also how successive governments have dismantled respect for the teaching establishment.
